Getting into a habit of writing a little every day and trying to match an image I had just taken with a wee verse was the challenge I gave myself for my first week using Substack Notes.
I thought it would be interesting to group them all here in the one post of images and haikus. The title image is just two couthie coos that came to say “Bon dia” to us last summer while on holiday in Saldes, Berguda in Catlunya, and honestly I can’t resist a little word play.
02.04.24
This is ours my friend
Sun greets earth, new day begun
Wake the soil to sing
03.04.24
A sound on the air
Calls a name across the sky
It murmurs springtide
4.4.24
On the morning stroll
Emerging from the damp way
In the sun again
5.4.24
An ocean of brown
Fallow and becalmed waiting
Promised harvest tide
6.4.24
Lavender curtain
Your folds warming cold stone
Letting the sun in
7.4.24
Grey may be the sky
But we awash in green seas
Dance through sprays of white
8.4.24
Deep in the forest
A little altar to her
Nature’s Spring bounty
9.4.24
Crowding the branches
Ready for Spring’s embrace
Your pale blossoms wait
