Two faced
A wee holiday homage to the *mountain which calls us back year on year in all its majesty and mystical moodiness.
Bathed in sunshine
Proudly preening
Showing off your best sides
Strong and uncompromising
Hard to navigate
Yet known to many
An institution
A companion
A gemini landmark
Fleeting shadows flit
Across your faces
Changing moods
Hardening features
Shifting in duality
An old man used to say
“Y’r aw shite or aw sugar”
That polarity of character
Emotionally unstable
Now you cover your faces
Hide behind the cloud
Surly and songless
Brooding over the landscape
Forked tongue ready to lash
We must simply wait
For your sulk to lift
Your faces to adjust
Demeanour steadied anew
*Pedraforca is a mountain in the Pre-Pyrenees, located in the comarca of Berguedà. The mountain's rare form, along with the fact that it is not visibly connected to any other adjacent mountains or ridges, has made it one of the most famous and emblematic mountains in Catalonia, the northeastern most region of Spain.

Beautiful poem. And that's a stunning mountain, too. It really does look like a forked tongue... 😎
